France / Bordeaux / Pomerol Rouge

2019 Château L'Enclos has a beautiful deep ruby-red colour. The bouquet is well-defined with fleshy red fruits scents, pure and precise, with pleasant notes of plum.
Mid-bodied palate, well-balanced with delicate tannins and nice freshness and long lasting finish.

Inside Bordeaux/Jane Anson tasting notes 94/100 (2021): "This is fruit-forward, rich with damson and black cherry notes, majoring on enticing grilled oak, mocha, cigar box, and crushed earth, signature Pomerol and easy to love. Owned by Stephen and Denise Adams, as at Château Fonplegade, with Corinne Comme and Stéphane Derenoncourt consultants".

  • Vineyard: 9 ha.
  • Varieties of vine: 79% Merlot, 19% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec.
  • Classical vinification in thermo-regulated concrete vats. Vatting for 30-35 days. Ageing for 14-16 months in French oak barrels with 40% new oak and 60% one-year-old cooperage.

Possessors of Château Fonplégade Grand Cru in Saint-Émilion, Stephen and Denise Adams are also the owners of Château L'Enclos.

Neighboring Château Petrus, Château L'Enclos is situated on the sunny western slope of the famed Pomerol plateau.

In the late 19th century Pierre Larroucaud decided to combine his family's separate plots of vines and build a house surrounded by a winery and vatroom, near the hamlet of "Grand Moulinet". This new estate took its name from one of the original plots named Enclos (Enclosure).

In 2007, after being passed down between 10 generations of the Larroucaud family, one of Pomerol's oldest families, Château L'Enclos came under the ownership of the Adams.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams own several other estates in France and USA, and as longstanding connaisseurs of Bordeaux's fine wines they were enchanted by the great potential of the terroir at L'Enclos, and seduced by the charms of the estate's quintessentially "Gironclin" manor house.
