ROCCHE DEI BARBARI, a distinguished family-owned Barbaresco producer, has thus far remained unknown in the international wine market.'

The family has been dedicated to crafting noble artisanal wines since the 17th century, and with their exceptional expertise, they follow a vibrant philosophy that continuously evolves.

Craftsmanship Method:

In line with a traditional family approach, ROCCHE DEI BARBARI harvests grapes at various stages of ripeness. The wines undergo an advanced aging process, where carefully selected grapes are pressed, allowing the wine to mature for at least three years for Primanebbia, while maturing for up to 10 years for Barbaresco Riservas. The process takes place in old neutral wooden barrels/botti or concrete tanks, ensuring each vintage retains sublime purity and structural complexity.

Seductive Terroir:

The wines begin with fruity and aromatic spices, while character and flavor gradually develop, revealing multiple layers of complexity and nuances. This reflects a natural and positive evolution, accompanied by an enchanting and increasingly captivating, fragrant freshness.

The brothers Diego and Damiano Barale ownes the Barolo estate in Piedmont – a house that has embarked on a new beginning rooted in historical heritage. The brothers are behind a new project with the ambition to carry on the family tradition.

Vineyards and Verification:

The 'Diego e Damiano Barale' estate covers an area of approximately 8 hectares, located between the towns of Barolo and Monforte d'Alba.

The vineyards Cannubi, Monrobiolo di Bussia, and Castellero are situated in the Barolo district, while the San Giovanni vineyard is located in the Monforte d'Alba district. These vineyards represent the Barale brothers' first single-vineyard wines, produced using old-fashioned and more traditional methods, also known as botti, which are particularly used in Italian wine production. Large wooden barrels are used to store and age the wine, imparting a gentle influence of the wood to the wine.

Botti versus Barriques:

The use of botti for wine aging can be more time-consuming than methods involving smaller barrels such as barriques. The large botti barrels provide a slower and more gradual oxidation and aging of the wine compared to the smaller barrels. The longer waiting period thus results in greater complexity and harmony in the wine, showcasing the natural aromatic qualities of the terroir and grapes to the fullest.

In connection with the estate's other vineyards – in Barolo, Barbera, Langhe, and Dolcetto – the brothers Diego and Damiano have been inspired by the more modern approach to winemaking used in Burgundy, namely the use of barriques. This method, unlike "botti," employs smaller oak barrels.

The vineyards are located in the municipalities of Barolo and Monforte d'Alba. The farm "Aie Sottane" is one of the oldest Barolo estates, now beautifully restored, and constitutes the heart of the "Diego and Damiano Barale" production.

Diego oversees the work in the vineyards, while Damiano, after many years as a cellar master for other winemakers in the area, is responsible for the work in the cellars.

Release of Barale's Latest Vintage In 2012, the first label of Nebbiolo Langhe 2010 was released under the new brand, symbolizing their work and relationship with nature, daring, and fortune.
