2019 Diego e Damiano Barale Barolo DOCG
Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Rosso
Several important critics have rated this Barolo wine highly.
Exquisite Barolo from the outstanding 2019 vintage by the Barale brothers. Its dark ruby red color introduces intense aromas of red berries, dark chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla from the oak.
The wine is a blend from the sandy soils of Monrobiolo di Bussia and its west-facing slopes in the municipality of Monforte, along with San Giovanni's marl soils, which bring coolness from its east-facing position in the Barolo municipality.
These contribute respectively warmth and tannins, as well as aromatic and mineral purity. The taste is concentrated with a graceful acidity that dances around the aromatic impressions, echoing on the palate. The mineral sensation intertwines with notes of luscious ripe cherries into a finish that truly embodies the greatness of the vintage.
Barolo is a traditional village in Piedmont, northwest Italy. The hills of the surrounding area have long been famous for producing fragrant, tannic red wines which take its name. These are made entirely from the Nebbiolo grape variety.
