Domaine Henri Rebourseau Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin has hints of wild strawberries interlaced with vanilla spice. Combining structure and unctuosity, this wine is suave and refined. Proof of eternity, concentrated and sweet, all is nectar, elegance and harmony.
Gaston Roupnel: "The difference between a Chambertin and a Charmes lies in the less pronounced vigour and robustness of the Charmes, which, in good years, is compensated for with a better expression of the wine's delicate character; sensitive and affirmed".
Falstaff tasting note 94/100: "Coulis of fruit of the forest and crushed black cherry defines the ripe, juicy nose. The palate has captured wonderful freshness that lends beautiful definition to the ripe fruit. Dense tannins are elegant, smooth and fine. The finish is lasting, fresh and comes with exquisite brightness".
Les Charmes-Chambertin is situated upon a limestone outcrop thinly covered with a 25cm layer of rendzina soil. There is significant iron in this pebbly, marly soil, with iron particles appearing at the surface. This appellation is separated from the Chambertin appellation by the Route des Grands Crus and differs from the Mazoyères Chambertin situated lower down the hill which can also be labelled Charmes-Chambertin.
The domaine's plots are situated exclusively in Charmes-Chambertin within its uppermost area. The plots have the benefit of being unified, producing wine which is a faithful representatian af this climat.
