2022 Chateau de la Maltroye Bourgogne
France / Burgundy / Bourgogne Rouge
A beautiful Bourgogne Pinot Noir from Château de la Maltroye with a light ruby-red color. The bouquet is concentrated with pepper and dark liqueur-like berry aromas. The taste is intense and smooth, with balanced fruit intertwined with fresh acidity and pronounced tannins, providing energy and complexity.
Jean-Pierre Cournut unequivocally called 2022 "a great vintage". It is more precise than 2020 and more readable as well in terms of the underlying terroir.
Burghound.com/Allen Meadows tasting notes "Top Value" (April 2024): "A mildly toasty nose is comprised by notes of ripe plum, dark berries and pungent earth. The fresh, vibrant, and utterly delicious middleweight flavors that possess a succulent mouthfeel before culminating in a dusty, nicely complex, and lingering finale. Worth checking out. 2026+".
